Fried Frank Honored by Legal Aid Society

Fried Frank was honored by the Legal Aid Society with a 2019 Pro Bono Publico Award for outstanding service to the organization and its clients. The honorable Edwina G. Mendelson, the Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for Justice Initiatives, and Legal Aid’s Attorney-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer Janet Sabel presented the award at the Pro Bono Publico Awards ceremony on October 28, 2019.
 
Individual Fried Frank attorneys recognized for their exceptional contributions as pro bono volunteers include corporate special counsel Daniel Daneshrad and corporate associates Satuti Aggarwal, Moshe A. Cohen, Corey J. Fersel, Corey T. Flick, Alyssa Miller, Sara G. Rosenberg, Roy Tannenbaum, and Christine Zhao.
 
Since 2015, Fried Frank has worked with the Legal Aid Society to help dozens of clients, primarily survivors of domestic violence, in obtaining U visa status, allowing them to remain in the US on a non-permanent basis, and in fulfilling the requirement of maintaining that status for three years. This year, the Firm partnered with the organization to assist those clients in completing the necessary forms to adjust their status to that of legal permanent resident.
 
The Legal Aid Society is the nation's oldest and largest public interest legal organization, providing quality legal representation to low-income New Yorkers since 1876. Firm Chairman David Greenwald is a member of the Board of Directors of The Legal Aid Society.
