Since 2015, Fried Frank has worked with the Legal Aid Society to help dozens of clients, primarily survivors of domestic violence, in obtaining U visa status, allowing them to remain in the US on a non-permanent basis, and in fulfilling the requirement of maintaining that status for three years. This year, the Firm partnered with the organization to assist those clients in completing the necessary forms to adjust their status to that of legal permanent resident.
The Legal Aid Society is the nation's oldest and largest public interest legal organization, providing quality legal representation to low-income New Yorkers since 1876. Firm Chairman David Greenwald is a member of the Board of Directors of The Legal Aid Society.
