EU to Prohibit Russian State-Controlled Listings

Following on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, the EU has announced a further round of unprecedented sanctions targeting Russia. Among these sanctions are measures designed to limit Russia’s access to capital markets in the EU. While a number of these measures can be characterized as extensions of previously announced sanctions, one particular facet of the new sanctions stands out: a novel prohibition of new public listings of state-controlled Russian entities.
