Robert E. Juceam Receives AILA’s 2021 Founders Award

Litigation of counsel Robert E. Juceam received the 2021 Founders Award from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), an honor which recognizes a person or entity that has made a substantial impact on the field of immigration law or policy. Presented at the 2021 AILA Virtual Annual Conference on Immigration Law, Mr. Juceam was honored for his lifelong commitment to immigration and pro bono service, and for his dedication to advancing the mission, development, and values of AILA.

An AILA member since 1968 and previous recipient of the Susan D. Quarles AILA Service Excellence Award, Mr. Juceam served in various capacities including president from 1982 to 1983. He played a key role in AILA's growth and prominence, and repeatedly testified before Congress on the bills leading to the 1986 Simpson Mazzoli Act, opposing employer sanctions and critiquing the regulations and failure of qualified designated entities to properly represent the needs of the immigrant poor.

AILA is a national association of immigration lawyers established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members.
