Legal Aid Society Honors Fried Frank

Accolades | October 16, 2018

The Legal Aid Society honored Fried Frank with a 2018 Pro Bono Publico Award for outstanding service to the organization and its clients. The Honorable Rolando T. Acosta, presiding justice of the New York Appellate Division, First Judicial Department, presented the award at an event held Tuesday, October 16. Individual attorneys recognized include corporate associates Sheryl L. Maltz and Brett C. Pedvis, and litigation associate Daryl L. Saylor.
Over the past year, Fried Frank lawyers have co-counseled with Legal Aid in habeas corpus cases for detained immigrants and participated in Legal Aid clinics. In addition, the Firm recently undertook a project in which litigators will defend decisions releasing detained immigrants under the doctrine of habeas corpus against appeals by the government in the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
The Legal Aid Society is the nation's oldest and largest public interest legal organization, providing quality legal representation to low-income New Yorkers since 1876. Firm Chairman David Greenwald is a member of the Board of Directors of The Legal Aid Society.
