Fried Frank Hosts Inaugural Attorneys of Color Retreat

News releases | May 18, 2023

In May 2023, Fried Frank hosted its first-ever Attorneys of Color Retreat, themed "Fostering Career Success." The event brought together more than 120 attorneys, including associates, special counsel and partners. Over the course of two days, attendees focused on professional development and had the opportunity to foster meaningful connections with colleagues and firm leadership.

The retreat commenced with opening remarks from Fried Frank chairman David J. Greenwald, followed by an interactive workshop led by Paula Edgar, Esq., CEO of PGE Consulting Group LLC. The workshop focused on career strategies, maximizing mentorship, feedback and building internal and external relationships. During the moderated partner panel, attendees gained valuable insights and advice from Fried Frank partners Rami Turayhi, Steven G. Scheinfeld, Matthew W. Howard, Nicole R. Love and Laurinda Martins as they shared their career experiences. They also discussed insights from the retreat in breakfast breakout meetings and over practice group lunches.

Additionally, in a fireside chat, Fried Frank partner Erica Jaffe interviewed firm alumna and Deputy General Counsel at AEA Investors Michelle Marcellus. The discussion covered important topics such as professional development, career goals, client communication and relationship development. The retreat created a strong sense of community and connection among peers across all levels of the firm.
