Fried Frank Elects Eight New Partners

The following lawyers were elected partners:
- Lee T. Barnum as partner in the Corporate Department and Capital Markets Practice, resident in New York. Ms. Barnum concentrates her practice on representing issuers, private equity sponsors, and financial intermediaries in public and private securities offerings. In addition, she provides public companies with advice regarding corporate governance matters and compliance with SEC and stock exchange rules and regulations. She received her JD from Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and Executive Editor of the Columbia Law Review, and AB, cum laude, from Bryn Mawr College.
- David Christmas as partner in the Corporate Department and Asset Management Practice, resident in London. Mr. Christmas advises fund managers, sponsors, financial institutions, family offices, and investors in relation to the structuring and establishment of alternative investment funds across a broad range of asset classes including private equity, credit, infrastructure, venture and growth and real estate, with a particular emphasis on structuring complex and multi-jurisdictional funds. He received his LPC from the College of Law, London; LLB, Law with European Legal Systems from University of East Anglia; and participated in the European Erasmus Programme, International Business, Economic and Competition Law, from the University of Leuven.
- Joseph E. Fox as partner in the Tax Department, resident in New York. Mr. Fox's practice focuses on domestic and cross-border tax issues relating to capital markets, financing and derivatives transactions. He also advises on asset management tax considerations, debt restructurings and international tax issues. He received his JD, magna cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law and Bachelor of Talmudic Law from Yeshiva B'nei Torah Rabbinical Seminary.
- Amir R. Ghavi as partner in the Corporate Department and Intellectual Property and Technology Practice, resident in New York. Mr. Ghavi concentrates his practice on intellectual property transactions on behalf of venture and private equity sponsors and corporations in the software financial technology, high-technology, banking and insurance, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and energy and industrial sectors. He received his JD from Cornell Law School and BS and BA from Emory University.
- Nathaniel Lifschitz as partner in the Real Estate Department, resident in New York. Mr. Lifschitz counsels financial institutions, owners, developers, and domestic and offshore investors in a broad range of highly-complex commercial real estate transactions, including representing both borrowers and lenders on debt and equity financing arrangements including mortgage, mezzanine, and construction financings, portfolio loans, preferred equity, and joint ventures. He received his JD from George Washington University Law School and BA, magna cum laude, from Yeshiva University.
- Todd J. McMullan as partner in the Corporate Department and Asset Management Practice, resident in New York. Mr. McMullan's practice includes the representation of major financial institutions, fund sponsors, institutional investors and investment advisers on a broad range of commercial, legal, regulatory and compliance matters. He regularly counsels clients on matters relating to the structuring, offering and operations of, and investments in, domestic and international hedge funds, private equity funds, funds-of-funds, hybrid funds, managed accounts and other alternative investment products. He received his JD, cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law and BA, cum laude, from Columbia University.
- Maxwell Yim as partner in the Corporate Department and Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity Practice, resident in New York. Mr. Yim focuses his practice on private equity transactions and mergers and acquisitions, representing private equity firms and public and private companies in a wide range of transactions. He also advises on corporate governance issues, securities law compliance, and other general corporate matters. He received his JD from University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law and BA from University of California at Berkeley.
- Ariel Zell as partner in the Corporate Department and Finance Practice, resident in New York. Mr. Zell represents financial institutions, private equity sponsors and public and private clients in a wide variety of debt financings and corporate transactions in connection with fund formations, leveraged acquisitions, recapitalizations, restructurings, private debt placements, and other securities offerings. His practice focuses on fund financings and other types of investment fund and corporate leverage. He received his JD from Fordham University School of Law and BA from Columbia University.
- Daniel Daneshrad as special counsel in the Corporate Department and Asset Management Practice, resident in New York. He received his JD, cum laude, from New York University School of Law, where he was a Robert McKay Scholar, and BA, with highest honors, Phi Beta Kappa, from University of California at Berkeley.
- Will Gay as special counsel in the Tax Department, resident in London. He received his LPC, with distinction, and PgDL from BPP Law School and BA from University of Cambridge.
- Jose R. Morales as special counsel in the Corporate Department and Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity Practice, resident in Washington, DC. He received his JD from Harvard Law School; MA, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland; and BA, summa cum laude with Honors, from American University.
