Fried Frank Chairman David J. Greenwald Denounces Anti-Semitism

News releases | May 27, 2021

Fried Frank Chairman David J. Greenwald shared the following statement on behalf of the Firm:

In the US and across Europe, we have recently witnessed an alarming increase in violence against Jewish people and Jewish institutions.  The Jewish community has suffered a long history of unconscionable anti-Semitic attacks and it is horrifying to see this violence escalate.  The Anti-Defamation League has documented a 63% increase in reported incidents between May 10th and May 23rd in the US alone.  Anti-Semitism, or hatred of any kind, cannot be tolerated.
The increase in anti-Semitism follows a wave of violence against Asians, who continue to be the target of hate-based acts.  And all of this is happening as we recently observed the first anniversary of George Floyd's tragic death, which speaks to the ongoing struggle by the Black community against systemic racism.
At Fried Frank, we vehemently denounce racism, white supremacy, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and any ideology that opposes equality and human rights.  We have an obligation to stand up to intolerance and to condemn hatred and bigotry whenever and wherever it occurs.
We must work individually and together to overcome divisiveness, stand up for each other, and achieve meaningful and lasting change.
