Fried Frank Team Honored with Her Justice Legal Team Award

A Fried Frank team, consisting of real estate and litigation partner Janice Mac Avoy and litigation associates Jamie Cohn and Leigh G. Rome, received Her Justice’s Legal Team Award at its 2020 Commitment to Justice Awards, which was held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. The team was recognized for its work on behalf of an undocumented, married mother from Haiti who is a survivor of abuse by her spouse, a US citizen, who had filed an order of protection against her. After Her Justice assisted the mother with amending the family offense petition and successfully achieved a full stay away temporary order of protection, the organization referred the case to the Fried Frank team. As a result of the team’s efforts, the mother was granted a five-year order of protection and obtained a certification from family court that enabled her to request immigration relief. She is now able to pursue a path to legal residency in the United States.
 
Her Justice is dedicated to providing legal services to low-income women and survivors of domestic violence and other crimes in the areas of matrimonial, family, and immigration law. Click here to learn more about its mission and work.
