Fried Frank Receives Perfect Score on HRC Foundation’s Scorecard for LGBTQ Workplace Equality

Accolades | January 21, 2020

Fried Frank, for the 12th consecutive year, earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation's premier benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation. The Firm is one of only 130 law firms and 686 businesses nationwide to achieve a 100 percent rating.

The 2020 CEI rated 1,059 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination policies across business entities, equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families, and supporting an inclusive culture and corporate social responsibility. The Firm's efforts in satisfying all of the CEI's criteria resulted in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”

In addition to maintaining inclusive policies, Fried Frank's Pride Alliance hosts the annual Michael R. Diehl Civil Rights Forum, which brings civil rights leaders, colleagues, and clients, together with Firm employees to discuss the most pressing social justice matters facing the community, including issues of LGBTQ rights. The Firm also sponsors the Lavender Law Career Fair and Conference of the National LGBT Bar Association. Fried Frank's robust pro bono program, a core tenet of the Firm's mission, provides legal counsel on matters involving family law, marriage equality, gender identity, asylum, HIV status, and other LGBTQ-related issues.

The HRC Foundation is the educational arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender, and queer people.
