Fried Frank Secures Favorable Settlement for Rabbinical Council of America in Class Action Litigation

Fried Frank acted as counsel to the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) in connection with consolidated class action litigation in DC Superior Court against Rabbi Bernard Freundel and four religious institutions – the Georgetown Synagogue-Kesher Israel Congregation, the National Capital Mikvah, the Beth Din of the United States of America, and the RCA. The lawsuit asserted claims against the RCA and the other religious institutions for, among other things, negligence and failure to supervise Rabbi Freundel. In October 2018, the court approved a settlement whereby the claims against the RCA were dismissed with prejudice and the RCA received a full release.

The Fried Frank litigation team included litigation partners Evan T. Barr and Samuel P. Groner and litigation associates Chelsea P. Azrak, Anayansi Rodriguez, and Katherine St. Romain.
