Members of Fried Frank's Attorney of Color Affinity Group hosted 25 undergraduate students from Hunter College on July 27, as part of the Firm's partnership with the Hunter College Pre-Law Scholar's Program. Students had the chance to ask a panel of Fried Frank associates about their education, career paths, and lives working at a corporate law firm. The panel was comprised of M&A associate Michelle Marcellus, asset management associate Kedar Mehta, bankruptcy and restructuring associate Cedrick Mendoza-Tolentino and asset management associate Javad Hussain.
Fried Frank's Hunter College Pre-Law Scholar's Program is a partnership between the Firm and Hunter College that prepares the college's diverse student body to become competitive law school candidates through intensive LSAT and academic preparation, mentoring programs and exposure to varied legal environments. The majority of Pre-Law Scholars at Hunter College have improved their LSAT scores dramatically, making them competitive for top-tier law schools and scholarships.
In addition to its partnership with Hunter College, Fried Frank is a proud supporter of numerous other programs aimed at diversifying the legal industry, including Legal Outreach, a pipeline diversity non-profit that prepares urban youth from underserved communities in New York City to compete at high academic levels by using intensive legal and educational programs as tools for fostering vision, developing skills, enhancing confidence, and facilitating the pursuit of higher education; Sponsors for Education Opportunity and the New York City Bar Association's Diversity Fellowship programs, which prepare high-achieving diverse college and law students for internships at Am Law 100 law firms; and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity's (LCLD) Scholars, Pathfinders and Fellows programs, which provide comprehensive leadership and professional development trainings for summer associates, mid-level associates and senior associates and junior partners of color.
