LatinFinance recently awarded Firm client Contraladora Comercial Mexicana (CCM) the distinction of “Best Restructuring Deal of 2011.” Fried Frank advised CCM, Mexico’s third-largest supermarket retailer, in its financial restructuring, which was effectuated through the first "pre-packaged" bankruptcy under Mexico's 10-year-old Concurso Mercantil insolvency law and a parallel US chapter 15 bankruptcy proceeding. One of the largest and most high-profile recent restructuring cases in Mexico, the successful outcome of this highly complex matter was the culmination of more than 18 months of intensive negotiation.
The deal was also shortlisted by Latin Lawyer magazine for its sixth annual Deal of the Year Awards. In April 2011, Fried Frank took home the “Restructuring Deal of the Year” award at the IFLR Americas Awards for its role in the high-profile matter.
The Fried Frank team was led by corporate partner Kenneth Rosh and bankruptcy and restructuring partner Gary Kaplan and included corporate partners Daniel Bursky and David Golay; litigation partner David Morris; and tax partner Lisa Levy.
