Robert Sorin speaks with Law360 about increased activity by REITs on commercial property transactions

New York real estate partner Robert Sorin spoke with Law360 regarding increased activity levels by REITs on commercial property transactions as compared to traditional family-run firms. Mr. Sorin said, “The venerable family companies cannot compete with REITs and PE funds when it comes to raising capital, particularly given the risks of the current market. Once the world came crashing down [2008 financial crisis] and the availability of more traditional sources of capital dried up, that's when this started.” Law360 also noted Mr. Sorin’s representation of Condé Nast Publications in the negotiation of its lease for one million square feet at One World Trade Center in a separate article.
