The Volunteer Consulting Group honored the Board of Harlem RBI with the first annual "Brooke W. Mahoney Award for Outstanding Board Leadership" on March 10, 2010 at the Harvard Club of New York City. New York corporate partner Kenneth I. Rosh, who is Board Chairman and President of Harlem RBI, accepted the award on behalf of the non-profit organization. Harlem RBI's Board of Directors was recognized for demonstrating strategic board recruitment, clear communication of expectations, successful evaluation systems, and its ability to increase donations more than 100% in 2009. The Harlem RBI Board also developed a 12 step "Guide to Protecting Harlem RBI in Uncertain Times" that other non-profits are adopting nationally in order to safeguard their own finances. Harlem RBI is a youth-development organization in East Harlem that was founded in 1991.
