Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced today that the Firm will be presented with the “2010 Commitment to Justice Law Firm Award” from inMotion on February 9, 2010. inMotion is a renowned non-profit organization dedicated to providing free legal services to low-income and under-served women in New York City.
The award recognizes Fried Frank’s ongoing commitment and support of inMotion’s programs and the families they serve. For 14 years, Fried Frank pro bono attorneys have participated in inMotion’s programs and worked on a broad range of more than 250 matters. In 2005, the Fried Frank Fellowship was established to allow for Firm associates to spend a year working full-time at inMotion. The fellowship program, which the Firm continues to sponsor and fund, has allowed the non-profit to retain and provide counsel on numerous complex matters and assist those who might otherwise remain unrepresented. The Firm has also been a corporate partner and a major institutional supporter of inMotion for the past 10 years, enabling the organization to respond and assist women in need.
The “Law Firm Award” underscores Fried Frank’s long-standing tradition and dedication to providing pro bono services to the communities in which our attorneys live and work. Brad Eric Scheler, New York bankruptcy partner at Fried Frank, is chair of the board of directors of inMotion. Fried Frank New York litigation partner and co-chair of the Firm's pro bono committee, Janice Mac Avoy, will accept the award on the Firm’s behalf at the award ceremony to be held in the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center.
Ms. Mac Avoy previously received the "Commitment to Justice Award" in recognition of her extensive work on and long-term commitment to family law cases referred to her by inMotion.
