Fried Frank Named One of the Best Law Firms for Women

Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP has been named one of the top 50 law firms for women by Working Mother magazine. The 2008 Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firms for Women list, which recognizes the top 50 "firms of choice" for women, notes the achievement of law firms that successfully retain and promote outstanding talent.

Based on an annual national survey, the 2008 list takes into account a number of factors, including workplace profile; family-friendly benefits and policies; flexibility, leadership, compensation and advancement of women; and development and retention of women. In particular, Fried Frank was noted for:

  • Leadership – Salaries for female equity partners were 8% higher than those of their male counterparts last year;
  • Advancement – Representation of women in leadership positions and on committees, including seven women currently serving as practice chairs (out of 20 in all);
  • Flexibility – Individual transition plans for maternity leave (which has been extended to 18 paid weeks), paternity leave (now 10 paid weeks), and elder-care accommodations;
  • Women's Initiatives – "An ambitious slate" of programming for women, including the annual Women-to-Women mentoring and networking event;
  • Best Practices – Nearly Firmwide participation in work/life balance forums.

Fried Frank will be honored for this achievement on September 15, 2008, at the Gala Awards Luncheon, a special awards ceremony organized by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, in New York City.
