Fried Frank Represents Tishman Speyer in Largest American Real Estate Deal Ever
Fried Frank represented Tishman Speyer and its partner, BlackRock Inc., in their $5.4 billion agreement to purchase Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village, adjacent apartment complexes on 80 acres along the East River in New York City comprising 110 buildings and over 11,000 apartments. This deal is being noted as the largest American real estate deal ever. Tishman Speyer controls some of New York City's most notable buildings, such as Rockefeller Center and the Chrysler Building. The deal announcement culminated months of speculation about how high the price would go for the iconic Manhattan complex.
The Fried Frank team was led by real estate partner Jonathan Mechanic and also included real estate partner Harry R. Silvera, corporate partner Daniel J. Bursky, executive compensation and employee benefits partner Jonathan F. Lewis, litigation partner Richard M. Schwartz and tax partner Brian Kniesly.
