The January 15th "New Deals" column of the New York Law Journal notes that, "[i]n a deal valued at more than $700 million, Duane Reade, Inc., New York's largest drug store chain has agreed to be acquired by private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners LP. Oak Hill will pay Duane Reade shareholders $408 million and provide debt financing....Banc of America Securities was a financial advisor to Oak Hill. They were represented by Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson [LLP]'s Stuart H. Gelfond....Duane Reade, a company founded in 1960 as a small drug outlet on Broadway between Duane and Reade streets, has become a brand name in the New York metropolitan area, with 239 stores."
