Partner Charles (Rick) Rule quoted on Microsoft Inc.'s antitrust settlement, National Journal's Technology Daily, "Antitrust: Judge Sees Microsoft Settlement Operating as Planned"

In an article entitled "Antitrust: Judge Sees Microsoft Settlement Operating as Planned" in the January 23rd National Journal's Technology Daily, partner Charles (Rick) Rule commented on Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly's remarks. She said, "'We really only have a concern about one provision'...referring to the communications protocols....Rule, a Microsoft attorney at Fried, Frank, said Microsoft is making four changes to the program, including the disclosure and free availability of the software code for 20 of the 113 protocols. Several of them handle basic connections between the operating system of an individual user and a corporate computer. The other changes include a new royalty model for key communications protocols and the lifting of confidentiality restrictions on the instruction books that accompany the software, Rule said."
