The International Financial Law Review of February 26th writes in "Firms Cash in as Cingular Takes AT&T Wireless" that "[t]he US mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market's blockbusting start to the year continued last week as Cingular Wireless bid $41 billion for AT&T Wireless. A frantic few days of deal-making saw several top US firms put to the test as Cingular and UK rival Vodafone put together last-minute offers for AT&T's mobile phone business. Ultimately, Cingular was successful, beating off a reported $38 billion bid from Vodafone.
