Partner Deborah Garza named chair-designate of Antitrust Modernization Commission, The Daily Deal, "President Bush Names Deborah Garza as Chairman of the Antitrust Modernization Commission"

In the March 8th Daily Deal, an article entitled "President Bush Names Deborah Garza as Chairman of the Antitrust Modernization Commission" notes that "President Bush named Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP partner Deborah Garza as chairman of the Antitrust Modernization Commission, a move that will allow the panel to begin its three-year review of U.S. competitive policy. Garza is a veteran of the Justice Department antitrust division during the Reagan and Bush administrations and the antitrust bar widely perceives her as a conservative likely to reject calls for greater antitrust enforcement. In private practice, she represented Exxon Corp. in its acquisition of Mobil and the National Football League in its antitrust fight with the United States Football League....'She is experienced, thoughtful and very knowledgeable,' said Janet McDavid, a partner at Hogan & Hartson LLP in Washington. 'She brings a background as an enforcer and as one who has represented clients so she understands both sides of the equation.'"
