Firm client Permira noted for joint purchase of Intelsat Ltd., New York Law Journal, "New Deals" column

According to the August 19th New York Law Journal in its "New Deals" column, "[f]our buyout firms agreed...to purchase satellite services provider Intelsat Ltd. in the third-largest private equity deal for a satellite services company this year, valued at $5 billion. The four private equity firms, Apax Partners, Apollo Management, Madison Dearborn Partners and Permira, formed Zeus Holdings Inc., which won the bid for Bermuda-based Intelsat with a $3 billion offer. Zeus will also assume Intelsat's $2 billion debt. Intelsat provides wholesale Internet, telecommunications, broadcast and corporate network service to more than 600 customers....It is owned by several global telecom and satellite companies including France Telecom SA, Lockheed Martin Corp. and Telenor ASA."
