In the September 17th "New Deals" column of the New York Law Journal, it was noted that "[a]dvertising giant WPP plc announced Sept. 13 it would acquire independent advertising agency Grey Global Group Inc. for $1.52 billion in a cash and stock deal. WPP was the winning bidder in an auction, beating out Havas SA, based in France, and private equity consortium Hellman & Friedman. Grey Global Group is the world's largest remaining independent advertising agency and the seventh largest advertising group in the world. WPP, the second largest, expects the deal to expand its geographic spread....Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson [LLP] represented WPP. Partners were Arthur Fleischer Jr., Laraine S. Rothenberg, Philip Richter, Jonathan S. Adler, Alan S. Kaden and Deborah A. Garza. Associates were Ashvin Rao, Jihwan Kim, Charles E. Fortin, Babar Sattar and James E. Rhilinger."
