Associate General Counsel of PricewaterhouseCoopers Joins Fried Frank as Partner

In a move that expands its highly respected white collar criminal defense practice, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP is pleased to announce that Steven M. Witzel, Associate General Counsel of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (“PwC”), will be joining the firm as a Partner. Mr. Witzel will become a member of the firm’s white-collar criminal defense group, which has a well-established practice in criminal and securities regulatory defense for corporate and individual clients. Mr. Witzel will also be involved in the firm’s civil litigation practice, which includes a pre-eminent securities law practice.

Mr. Witzel brings over two decades of experience in complex criminal, regulatory and civil litigation. During his tenure at PwC, he served as Partner and Associate General Counsel where he represented PwC in some of its most important matters. Prior to joining PwC, Mr. Witzel served for six years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Mr. Witzel is a graduate of Dartmouth College where he earned his A.B. cum laude. He received his J.D. from Fordham University Law School where he was an editor of the Law Review. Following law school, Steven served as a law clerk to Hon. John M. Cannella, United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York, and was then an associate at Cravath Swaine & Moore. Mr. Witzel has published several articles and served on panels addressing white collar criminal defense at conferences sponsored by the American Bar Association and the American Bankers Association among others. He is a member of the New York and Connecticut Bars.
