Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) will honor Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP with an Outstanding Volunteer Award at the VLA Summer Benefit on June 19, 2006. The Outstanding Volunteer Award is given in recognition of exceptional contributions in support of VLA’s mission of service to the arts community.
From its inception, VLA has played an important role as an advocate on behalf of the arts community in different ways, ranging from participation in litigation, making public statements about matters of interest to the arts community, and making recommendations about pending legislation. Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts has been the leading provider of pro bono and low cost legal services and information to over 10,000 members of the arts community each year.
Fried Frank has been supporting VLA since 2003 by donating legal services on matters including debt relief work, contract litigation, intellectual property and contract negotiation and licensing. Additionally, Brad Eric Scheler has been serving on the board of directors for Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts helping to expand the scope and depth of the organization’s activities.
