Mentoring and Training

Each summer associate is paired with four mentors: a partner, two associate advisors and a junior associate buddy. These mentors help summer associates navigate their way at Fried Frank. In addition, supervising attorneys provide feedback to summer associates working on their matters on an ongoing basis and all summer associates receive formal mid-summer and exit reviews.

In addition to their work assignments, summer associates can participate in "observation opportunities." Examples include accompanying attorneys to court appearances, attending depositions, witness preparation sessions and client meetings, and observing negotiation sessions and corporate closings. We believe – and our associates agree – that this experiential learning is an essential component of a successful summer experience.

Our training programs and presentations take place throughout the summer and cover a variety of topics, such as legal research and writing, as well as substantive introductions to our departments and practice areas, and detailed discussions about our most interesting current matters. To help you learn more about our market-leading matters for market-leading clients, summer associates are invited to attend departmental and practice group meetings, lunches and other events.
