Dr. Juergen van Kann
is a corporate partner in Fried Frank's Frankfurt office. He joined Fried Frank in 2004 to establish the Frankfurt office.
His areas of expertise comprise international mergers & acquisitions, corporate matters (including takeovers), private equity-related deals, complex real estate transactions and international arbitration, as well as GDPR compliance and European data protection and privacy.
Dr. van Kann is a qualified expert for corporate and commercial law (“Fachanwalt für Handels- und Gesellschaftsrecht”), a qualified tax expert ("Fachanwalt für Steuerrecht"), a lecturer for M&A at the German Graduate School of Management & Law (GGS) and a member of the foundation board of the Institute for Law and Finance at the University of Frankfurt. He has published extensively in the areas of M&A and corporate governance and on corporate issues. Dr. van Kann is editor of handbooks on Management of Stock Corporations ("Der Vorstand der AG", ESV, 2nd edition 2012), on Real Estate Transactions ("Immobilientransaktionen", ESV, 2nd edition 2014) as well as on mergers & acquisitions (“Praxishandbuch Unternehmenskauf: Leitfaden Mergers & Acquisitions”, Schäffer-Poeschel, 2nd edition 2016/2017).
Dr. van Kann received his PhD from the University of Hamburg in 1999, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Karsten Schmidt, and his JD from the University of Hamburg in 1996. He passed his First State Exam from the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg in 1994 and his Second State Exam from the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf, in 1996. Dr. van Kann received his intermediate degree in economics from the University of Aachen in 1995. He is admitted to the bar in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
