Jason R. Ertel is a partner in the Executive Compensation & ERISA department, resident in Fried Frank's New York office. He joined the Firm in 2019.
Mr. Ertel has extensive experience advising clients on a variety of executive compensation, ERISA, and other employee benefit matters, both within the context of day-to-day operations as well as public and private company mergers, acquisitions, sales, spin-offs, IPOs, and other corporate transactions. He also counsels asset managers on ERISA compliance, the plan asset rules, and related fiduciary issues, as well as deferred compensation matters under Sections 409A and 457A of the Internal Revenue Code.
Mr. Ertel's practice includes the representation of public and private companies, private equity fund deal teams, compensation committees, management teams, and individual executives in structuring, negotiating, and implementing employment, severance, change in control, and deferred compensation arrangements, and cash- and equity-based incentive compensation plans, as well as providing counsel on related issues under securities and tax laws.
Mr. Ertel received his JD from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his BA, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. He is admitted to the bar in New York.
