John Liftin is senior counsel, resident in the Firm's New York office. He joined the Firm in 2017.
Mr. Liftin has extensive experience in corporate and securities law, financial regulatory and compliance affairs and the securities markets. During his career, he has successfully managed the legal affairs of several of the largest financial services firms.
Prior to joining Fried Frank, Mr. Liftin served as General Counsel and a Managing Director at The D.E. Shaw group. Earlier in his career, he served as General Counsel and Vice Chairman of The Bank of New York Mellon, General Counsel and a Senior Vice President at Prudential Financial and General Counsel and a Senior Vice President at Kidder, Peabody Group. Mr. Liftin was a partner at Rogers & Wells for eleven years, and was previously Special Counsel to the Chairman at the Securities and Exchange Commission and an Associate Director of its Market Regulation division.
Mr. Liftin is recognized by Legal 500 in the "Investment Fund Formation and Management" category.
