is a special counsel in the Real Estate Department, resident in the New York Office. He joined the Firm in 2014.
Mr. O'Brien's practice focuses on land use and environmental review. He was previously general counsel and interim director of the NYC Mayor's Office of Environmental Coordination, and served as assistant counsel to the NYC Department of City Planning from 2006 to 2011. Mr. O'Brien was also previously an adjunct assistant professor at the New York University Wagner School of Public Service, where he taught a class on Land Use Law. He is a frequent lecturer at Cardozo School of Law, Brooklyn Law School, and the American Planning Association's New York Metro Chapter.
