Fried Frank acted as counsel to a joint venture of Vornado Realty Trust and Related Companies in connection with the acquisition, development, and financing of the approximately US$2 billion Moynihan Station project. On June 15, 2017, the deal closed and the first phase of the project was unveiled, which included an Eighth Avenue entrance to tracks below the James A. Farley Post Office.
The Moynihan Station project will create a new train hall with additional access to the Long Island Rail Road and Amtrak tracks; a ground floor retail concourse connecting Penn Station to 9th Avenue, Hudson Yards, and beyond; and more than 600,000 square feet of office space in the historic James A. Farley Post Office building adjacent to Penn Station. This project is a culmination of a plan originally conceived more than 25 years ago by the late New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
The Fried Frank team includes real estate partners Tal J. Golomb and Robert Sorin; real estate of counsel Stephen Lefkowitz; and real estate associates Julianne E. Befeler, Melissa M. Brown, Holly P. Chen, Wesley O'Brien, Jason M. Robinson and Ross M. Wasserman.
