|Fried Frank to Support APBCO’s Inaugural Small Business Legal Academy|
|October 28, 2013
On Tuesday, October 29, Fried Frank and other New York-area law firms will join forces in organizing and staffing a free all-day expo, the Small Business Legal Academy, providing legal counseling to small business owners and nonprofits throughout the city. The Association of Pro Bono Counsel conceived of the event, which was organized by Fried Frank, five other firms and nine legal services organizations. The inaugural Small Business Legal Academy, a one-day event, will be held at the World Famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, bringing together attorneys from more than 30 corporate law firms, legal services organizations, financial services consultants, city and state agencies, and other service providers to provide free consulting services. In addition to one-on-one consultations, the Academy will feature five workshops focusing on issues relating to starting and managing a business or nonprofit, to help small business owners find solutions for their legal and financial challenges.
To promote the effort, litigation special counsel Jennifer Colyer spoke alongside Alexandra Rizio from Start Small Think Big and Bill Lienhard of Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) on WHCR 90.3 FM, the "Voice of Harlem," about the event on the Friday morning show “What’s In Your Hand?,” hosted by Ricky Young.
