| New York bankruptcy and restructuring partner Brad Eric Scheler was named "Dealmaker of the Week" by Am Law Daily for his role representing Centerbridge Partners, L.P. in its US$3.925b purchase of Extended Stay, Inc. The bid, by a group led by Centerbridge and included Paulson & Co. and Blackstone Group, was made at an auction designed to take Extended Stay out of bankruptcy protection. "What's enjoyable generally is helping clients obtain their objectives," Mr. Scheler said. "But getting it done at 4:30 in the morning after 18 hours at auction, that's a great feeling."
