Nigel and his team will work closely with Fried Frank’s leading New York real estate group, headed by Jon Mechanic, which has consistently been ranked number 1 by the Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession. “So many of our clients,” said Jon Mechanic, “are looking for substantive international real estate reach and we are delighted to add to the firm such a high calibre team.”
Nigel joins from Paul Hastings' London office and Stephen was in Weil Gotshal's London based real estate group. Both have been involved in a wide variety of major property transactions. Nigel in particular is noted in Chambers 2006 for his “absolutely fantastic work” for banks and opportunity funds.
The hiring of the real estate team is another important step in Fried Frank's European expansion. Over the past 18 months Fried Frank has expanded its European practices with the addition of more than 40 lawyers comprising corporate, restructuring, tax, anti trust and litigation teams across London, Paris and Frankfurt.
Justin Spendlove, Managing Partner of Fried Frank, said, " Real Estate is an important asset class in its own right and in the context of corporate transactions and we are delighted to have a team with exactly the right experience to work with our corporate and funds clients."
