President Bush signed The Pension Protection Act of 2006, which amends the "plan asset" and prohibited transaction rules of ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code. Now that it has been enacted, investment managers and other service providers to plans should consider what actions are appropriate to take advantage of the changes effected by the Act. The attached memorandum describes various action items that managers and service providers may wish to consider.
