Fried Frank University is the Firm's rigorous professional development institute. The initial phase of FF University helps recent law school graduates successfully transition from academia to the practice of law, and acquaints newcomers with the Firm's culture and business practices. The second phase is held in the spring and reunites the class for workshops on accounting, writing and other areas. The FF University Graduate program is for third-year associates and facilitates the transition from junior to midlevel associate. Negotiation, management, delegation, business development and feedback are some of the topics covered. The FF University Post-Graduate curriculum focuses on providing senior associates with the skills they need to become effective client relationship developers and managers and includes sessions on client service, networking and business development.
Attorneys at all levels also participate in substantive training programs focused on their chosen areas of practice. These regular sessions are organized and led by the firm's practice groups.
